Today I went outside!!

Whippee I was able to get out of doors for a few minutes this morning.. Went to my car to start it.. Hubby will be going to the ever not so faithful post office.

We were finally able to see the Great Grand Son yesterday. Giving a child gifts two day after Christmas just isn't the same for me. And his gift from His Grandmother still did not arrive. Now I know it was because of the weather, but it still is very aggravating. When it arrives we will do it all again!!
UPDATE: FedEx has delivered the gift.. So now his Christmas is complete!!

On a brighter note I did get to sew a little yesterday. Found an neat Mug Rug tut from the blog http://www.ryanwalshquilts.com/p/my-tutorials.html. pretty neat. And he used the Moda Candy Bar packet.  Well I had some leftover fabrics from a sudoku quilt  I made a few years back. Now all I need to do is back them. These will be a few gifts  throughout the year.

I am hoping for a better Year for me and my family in 2011. Life has a way of changing what we think we will get to do. It is an adventure and we never know what tomorrow will hold for us. I am very thankful I do not put myself  first for anything. And being the last in line has always been where I feel comfortable..LOL

So my hope for you and yours is:
peace where there was none
laughter where there was tears
and many hours of spending time with your loved ones.

Till next time....

Daily changes!!

Good Morning to those who read my blog.

Today will be a hard day for me, I have several things to finish but with my Great Grandson being here
life will be different. Was not planning on me keeping him for the day.  Oh well life goes on around here.

I am not ready for Christmas gift giving. Really is anyone ever really ready? I don't think so. Some just want to pretend they are and not be stressed out.. LOL  I don't know what I have been doing for the last month
but it sure wasn't making cookies or buying gifts. So now I am really down to the wire..

Last evening was my last class for this semester of  Bible College. There was only 19 questions but several had sections. We had 2 hours to complete the test.  I feel a person either knows it or doesn't. So I was done in about an hour.  I do enjoy the classes so will take the next semester class too. To me it is not about the end grade, it is about all that I gain from each class. So much that I only thought I knew. Was I ever wrong!!

I hope everyone has a Wonderful Christmas and will realize the true the meaning of what the DAY is about.
And give thanks for all you have been blessed with just this year...........

Till next time......

Are there rules in quilting or not?

After reading Stash Manacure this morning, I just had to have the clock. As I'm sure many others did as well. In reading what the guest poster said about her way of doing quilts, I felt right at home!! I am not a pinner either.. they get in my way and make things off center for me.. So I don't use them, except to keep my cut pieces together, so a piece doesn't get lost...  As for pressing that just calls for my fingernail from time to time.  Her remark about the lumpy quilts was right on for me. I have a few lunmps in my quilts and my body, who really cares? I know my family doesn't. They have never complained about the lumps at some of the seams. In my way of thinking the things I make are for people to use, not hang on a wall or hide in a closet for later use. Imperfections are a part of being made by a real peron !!! Which is what I am. I do have a machine qiuilting set up but do not have any of the bells and whistles on it. No stitich regulator, no computer imaging nothing but me moving the machine over the top and doing things to my own liking.
Enough said , now I am off the sew for a few then get to the post office.. time is rapidly moving onward to Christmas Day..

Till next time,.....

Hello again !!

The days are ticking away and  I have much to get done. I am running way behind with my Christmas list!!
Have yet to purchase the first gift for anyone. And a cash cards seem like the lazy way out! However there are many who will end up with one from Hubby and Me
.
I did get the chance to sew a little yesterday. Made a couple of Mug Rugs, nothing to brag about. I plan to send these to my Granddaughter for her to use a small gifts to whomever she wants. She is a very giving child and is always thinking of others before herself.  She made a statement to me a few months back, that was well beyond her years. " I am just a giving soul". Not many kids would  say that !! For most it is all about the ,Me, Me, Me concept. I am very proud of her.

We are in a cold snap this morning. School's are closed again today. I'm sure many parents are about the pull
their hair out. Oh I remember those days.

May you have a wonderful day!!
Till next time..............

23 more days!!

Hard to imagine Christmas Day, as we know it, will be here in 23 days. Reflecting back to my childhood that seemed like a lifetime, waiting days. But the older I get the faster the time goes.
I sent a Secret Santa box off yesterday, only to find out I sent it to the wrong person. Do I ever feel dumb? Yes I sure do!! Thankfully the host of this was understanding and I hope was able to change names with another gal in this same swap. If not I will get another box together.  LOL
I plan to get some decorations up today, if possible. My Greatgrand son will here again today so I may have to wait till later in the evening to do anything. Like all typical kids , he wants one of everything he sees on the TV.
I did manage to get a couple of the ever so popular mug rugs done, last week. Would like to get the other ones I have started finished.  They are not as bright and colorful as others have made theirs, but  i am using real scraps of fabrics. Not cuting fabrics and calling them scraps.. to me there is a huge difference.
What do you plan for the day??

Till next time..................

another year older

Well today I is my birthday. Not that it means much. Some people get all excited because it's  the day they were born. And plan a party for themself.  I have never thought my day was anything special. It is just a day out of the year.  I will spend the day getting things in order for the big Turkey Day and making sure all will be done for that. We,hubby and me, have always had a open door policy on Thanksgiving. We feed who ever shows up at the door. Many are not as blessed as we have been and I do want to share with those who are less fortunate.
I read many blogs in a week and seems so many are getting their homes decorated for the Season. I love to see the decorations for Christmas and how festive some seem to make it. Maybe I will get on that bad wagon this season. Not sure just yet.

Nothing Quilty today, sorry. It's called real life~` Ha- ha..
Any way have a great week and may you be of help to someone less fortunate than you this holiday season.

till next time.....

Just Sharing

Well it has been a few days since I last posted..

I just wanted to share a photo of my 2 grandsons. They would not sit any closer together. Said they didn't want people to think they liked each other. HA-HA This is a family joke..
Anyway, Justin is on the right and Zack on the left. They are 8 months apart in age, with Justin being the oldest. He is 21 and Zack will be 21 in 22 more days. They both think they are all grown up.. HA! How little they know.  They both are good kids in their own way.
Life is harder for this generation than when I was that
age. But they will be fine..

Till next time...

Just Wondering

How do you manage to get things done? IE: sewing projects, quilting on a top etc? Seems these days I can't even get a piece of fabric cut let alone make a project from it.
I have been very blessed with more than enough fabric, battings, threads, sewing machines, rulers, cutters, cutting mats and the list goes on. Yet I can't seem to get one piece of material to a machine. I feel like I should have a huge yard sale and move on to another stage of life.
So if someone would please share with me how you get anything done or what you do to keep motivated please do tell me. I am at my wits end.

Ramblings- not quilty

Geesh!! where does the time go? Seems I get behind so fast.

Charter finally got me back up with my email. Who knows what they had done.

Life is changing again it seems. Kids and grand kids, need I say more? Hopefully things will be evened out soon. We all do what is needed for family, if not we should.

My youngest Granddaughter, whom I will call Double Dan, called me last evening to share her joy and happiness with me. She won another BIKE at school. She was the top girl seller in the school in the fundraiser. This is the 2ND time she has been top seller. She is a go getter for sure.

My great grand son was with me for a few hours yesterday. He sure is growing fast. The picture is of him with his daddy and his aunt on trick or treat night. All he wanted was the candy from me and then he was ready to go out the door. Typical child to say the least.

Till next time

Lets have a do over!!

After many many months of not posting, I will try this again.
I have a very hard time of really knowing what to blog about. A writer I am not!!

Anyway, life has been fair to me health wise and other wise. At the present time hubby and i are living alone, which seems very odd. The first time in 27 years, this is a 2nd marriage for both of us.

My quilting has been pretty much on hold for too many days, weeks, months. And I do hope this will change starting today. I happened on the tiny tote instructions so I will give that a try for my Great-grands as a halloween treat bag. When I get them done I will post a picture of them.

Well this is all for now and will do better with the blogging..

Till next time..

Moving forward

Seems the days get past me all to quickly. Maybe it is because I move to slowly now.
Do you think?
None the less I have things planned for today.

1. Sort and press fabric squares and strip to get ready for some power sewing.

2. Make binding for 2 quilts that have been done for about a year. I think it is time to get these out of the way.

3. Organize some of my suplies for quilting,

Once I get these done it will be okay for me to do something new..

Till next time.....

A new take on goals

In my reading of many blogs the theme seems to be my goals for the year!! And when they don't meet them all they beat themeselves up.
So with that in mind, I plan on doing my goal for the day list. This seems to be
a more doable way for me. If I have at least 3 things to make progress on daily I will attain my expected end results in a more relaxed fashion.
The things I do are supposed to be fun and relaxing. So why do I think I have to do
as everyone else and put mounds of stress on me? I don't!! Life is not a race it is an adventure, in some respects. With that being said.
Here are my goals for the day:

1. Select my pattern for a doll bed quilt swap. ( My thinking how can I choose fabric if I don't have a patten in mind)

2. Finish 6 more QAYG blocks to send to Jay in Nebraska for his nursing home project.

3. Clean out my bedroon closet.

Now this is a very doable list for me.

Till next time...........
