Just Wondering

How do you manage to get things done? IE: sewing projects, quilting on a top etc? Seems these days I can't even get a piece of fabric cut let alone make a project from it.
I have been very blessed with more than enough fabric, battings, threads, sewing machines, rulers, cutters, cutting mats and the list goes on. Yet I can't seem to get one piece of material to a machine. I feel like I should have a huge yard sale and move on to another stage of life.
So if someone would please share with me how you get anything done or what you do to keep motivated please do tell me. I am at my wits end.

I don't think there's anything someone else can do to motivate YOU! It has to come from within, and if you aren't feeling it you aren't feeling it.

The other day, I was feeling overwhelmed with everything I *had* to do vs. everything I wanted to do. I'd been sick all week so I'd spent two days doing nothing but run, run, run to catch up, and I was not leaving the house that day!

I decided I would work on each thing for a certain amount of progress (vs. time limit) -- clean one room; knit 10 rounds; do a load of laundry; finish one side of binding; do the dishes; pay bills; etc./whatever!, then start the sequence again. Eventually all the limited things (cleaning & laundry) were done I could just sit and knit or bind!

Eventually it all gets done when it's meant to be, and not a moment sooner. Hang in there!

You know me Roma. I just do it, and mainly always have some handwork ready to do while you are watching TV or on the phone. I think that what really saves me though, is I don't talk on the phone very much. And do little projects. And, come over to my house where you can't be bothered, lol. Love ya.

Ro I think we all get in the funk mode. It will pass just as bad gas does, you will be sewing again. I do not wake up thinking what will I sew today I am thankful to wake up and greet day. I do as the other gals Shieia and Wilma say. Just shoot for a few things and then it will get some out of your way and you will feel the need again. Don;t make it into a job. But remember others set their limits as well. So be sure to set aside some time each day for you do what you would like to do.Be it sleep in soak in the tub, nothing or sew all day long to your hearts content. Quilter000

Roma, I have the reverse, I don't know how to slow down. Take the 10 minute game. Have yourself do at least 10 minutes a day of some sort of quilty thing. Be it ironing some FQs, cutting a few squares, sewing some 4-patches - just 10 minutes. And we all need me time - not alone time, but time we indulge in something that is just US. A walk, picking flowers, writing a letter to a friends, reading a book, or watching a "chick flick" - what ever is YOU. When I get a little blue - I pull out one of my kid's old joke books - those awful knock knock or dopey kids jokes that make you thump your head. A joke a day - a smile a day, helps.
